ITINERARY
DAY 1: NAIROBI – DAKAR
Upon arrival at blaise diagne international airport after completing your entry formalities, you will be met by one of our local representative and transferred to your hotel. once you have checked you in, your guide, who will be with you throughout your stay, will brief you on what to expect during your stay in Senegal.
DAY 2: DAKAR CITY TOUR
After breakfast, begin the city tour of Dakar and vicinity. From independence place, the heart of the city, you will pass by presidential palace and the main cathedral before continuing by the seafront drive towards soumbedioune market, and the mosque de la revelation. the tour of Dakar will show you the contrasts between upscale residential areas and other popular neighborhoods. You will also visit popular hotspots such kermel or tilen market, next visit the renaissance monument, a 164 foot high monument, overlooking Dakar that is taller than the statue of liberty. the once controversial bronze statue is a popular attraction among locals as well as visitors, next visit Africa’s most modern museum, the museum of African civilization, a massive 4 story complex which fulfilled the dreams of Senegal’s first president leopold sedar senghor. around 1200. You will board the ferry for a 20 minutes ride to visit the charming yet infamous goree island, a unesco world heritage site.
explore the usually quiet streets lined with pastel colored colonial era buildings. among the most famous buildings here is the house of slaves which records the history of goree’s past. observe the “door of no return” through which millions passed on the way to slavery.
DAY 3: DAKAR – PINK LAKE – LOMPOUL
After breakfast drive straight to the north. stop on the way at the pink lake a rare natural phenomenon caused by a unique combination of microorganism, a halophilic bacteria and high concentration of salt with the sun which gives it the different colors. interact with the salt harvesters.
Cruise by boat on the waters where swimming just means floating, lunch and visit the nearby fulani village on the way to the lompoul desert, in the desert of Senegal. Enjoy a camel ride to the top of the sand dunes from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of coastline. Spend the night in comfortable tents and feel like nomads observing the moon or stars.
DAY 4: LOMPOUL – DJOUDJ PARK – ST. LOUIS

DAY 5: ST. LOUIS – KAOLACK
After breakfast drive to the holy city of Touba. Visit the main mosque which is the largest and most magnificent mosque in all of west Africa. You will learn about cheikh ahmadou bamba, the spiritual founder of mouridism, the only brotherhood born in Senegal.
Spend a few minutes in the large library which holds thousands of volumes all hand written by the mystic founder. Learn about the history of Touba, an autonomous city which is much like the vatican in and also noted as one of the most significant cities in Senegal. After Touba, drive to kaolack with stops in fulani and wolof villages. meet locals, learn about their daily activities and culture. Arrive in kaolack early evening and check in hotel.
DAY 6: KAOLACK – OUSSOUYE – CAP SKIRING
After breakfast, we drive to Gambia by road entering the border by east of Gambian river. After completing immigration formalities, we’ll cross the bridge to reach the other part of senegal: la casamance. You will pay a visit to Mandingo villages. today will be a special day of learning the casamance customs and traditions. You will meet the traditional chief of the Mandingo ethnic group, king of oussouye. You will have time to interact with members of the diolas, bainuks, mankagne ethnics groups. Lunch will be provided en route. You will discover the Mandingo architecture style, which is known for its respect to nature, visit the impluvium houses of enampore, and the one storied-mud houses of seleti. Return to the hotel late in the afternoon.
DAY 7: CAP SKIRING – KARABANE ISLAND – ZIGUINCHOR
After breakfast leave for the discovery of the lower casamance and the island of karabane. You will go through the villages of the diola ethnic group and visit the village fishing port of elinkine. By motor canoe you will sail from elinkine to the island of karabane meandering the casamance river with its wonderful birds, vegetation, mangrove, oyster banks, and the colorful and picturesque fishermen canoes.
upon arrival in karabane you will have lunch at the convent restaurant. Then, you will visit the island to learn its history and testimonies of the slave-trading era in southern Senegal. Return to ziguinchor at the end of the day.
DAY 8: ZIGUINCHOR – BANJUL
Breakfast in the hotel before you depart ziguinchor to banjul, the capital city of the Gambia. During the day, you will visit the upper casamance villages and interact with the people. once in Gambia we will have a city tour of serrekunda, the most densely populated area of the country, here you can see displays of crafts, tie and dye and the beautiful batik cottons, then city tour of banjul.
DAY 9: BANJUL – TOUBACOUTA
After early breakfast we depart crossing by ferry to the Senegal side of the river before heading to the Senegal border. After crossing we follow our way through the Fathala wildlife reserve for an extra excursion: Enjoy a lion adventure – a once in a lifetime experience. Take the opportunity to interact with our lions and accompany them on foot. After the visit we follow our way to Toubacouta. in the afternoon, we’ll do an excursion in the saloum island by canoe to discover the landscape with bird watching adventure. Return to the hotel.
DAY 10: TOUBACOUTA – JOAL FADJOUTH – SALY
In the morning after breakfast transfer to joal fadiouth. Visit of the biggest baobab tree of the country on the way before reaching joal fadiouth, where you will visit the traditional serere village and observe the cathedral, the marketplace, the sacred baobab tree and the famous multi-religious cemetery. Joal -fadiouth is a sleepy twin village with joal on the mainland and fadiouth, linked by a narrow 400-meter wooden bridge lies on an island built entirely of seashells. We will visit the shell islands of fadiouth, symbol of tolerance: where muslims christians and animists are living together and buried side by side in unusual mix cemetery. continue to saly resort.
DAY 11: SALY – BANDIA SAFARI – AIRPORT
Early morning departure for a safari in the nature reserve of bandia located in a 3500-hectare wide conservation area by 6×6 vehicle. with a professional guide, see numerous species native numerous birds : small hornbills, grey heron, eagles, blackbirds, kingfisher kingfishers.See south africa such as white rhinoceros, kudu, elands, cape moose, giraffes, ostriches, zebras to senegal: buffaloes, antelopes, impala gazelles, monkeys, tortoises, crocodiles… stop at the crocodile pool where animals come to drink and buffalos wallow in the mud. See numerous birds : small hornbills, grey heron, eagles, blackbirds, kingfishers. Return to the hotel. Enjoy the day at leisure. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kenya.
