Discover the beauty of the Comoros across Grande Comore & Mohéli. Explore Moroni’s medina, hike Mount Karthala volcano, and relax on pristine beaches. Dive into local culture with visits to villages, spice plantations, and traditional markets. In Mohéli, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, enjoy snorkeling, dolphin and whale spotting, and witness sea turtles nesting. This journey blends volcanoes, marine life, culture, and untouched beaches for an unforgettable island escape.
Pick up from your hotel to spend the afternoon exploring the old medina, the Old Friday Mosque, and Volovolo Market, a colorful space where you can find spices, textiles, ylang-ylang oil, and handmade jewelry. End with views of the coast from the ancient port area.
Choose between two options:
Mount Karthala Hike: Trek to the crater of one of the world’s largest active volcanoes, a physically demanding full-day excursion (6–8 hours) offering views of cloud forests, lava flows, and volcanic vents.
Coastal Tour: Visit Itsandra village, Lac Salé, and Chomoni Beach, with short hikes and cultural insights along the northern coast.
Return to Moroni in the evening for dinner.
Travel north to Mitsamiouli, stopping at Trou du Prophète, a legendary bay once used by early Arab sailors. Continue to Dragon Rocks, black lava outcrops that resemble reptilian scales against the sea. Enjoy lunch at a beach lodge, then relax or swim in the calm waters. On the way back, pass ylang-ylang plantations and stop in small villages known for local crafts.
Fly or sail from Grande Comore to Mohéli, the smallest and least developed of the islands, known for its nature and conservation efforts. Arrive in Fomboni, the island’s capital, and transfer to an eco-lodge near Nioumachoua. Enjoy a quiet afternoon along the beach or take a short walk to nearby fishing villages.
Set out on a guided boat trip to Mohéli Marine Park, one of the most biodiverse areas in the Indian Ocean. Snorkel in coral-rich waters with chances to see turtles, dolphins, and tropical reef fish. Stop at one of the protected islets for a picnic lunch, followed by time to relax on remote beaches. Return in the afternoon for a cultural storytelling session with local guides.
Visit the forest interior of Mohéli, walking through tropical vegetation to spot fruit bats, mongoose lemurs, and exotic birds. This area is important for endemic species and bird conservation. Later, explore a traditional village where locals share insights into agriculture, fishing, and village governance. End the day with a sunset beach gathering or local drumming session.
Transfer back to Fomboni Airport for your return flight to Moroni. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a final walk along the coast or visit a local café before being transferred to Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport for your departure.
