This 8-day Mount Kilimanjaro climb via the Lemosho Route offers a scenic, well-paced ascent with excellent acclimatization. Starting from the remote western side, the route crosses the Shira Plateau and follows the southern circuit, maximizing summit success through gradual altitude gain. With experienced guides and full support, the trek culminates at Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) before descending through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by an Altezza Travel representative and transferred to your hotel. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, hot showers, a swimming pool, friendly staff, and internet access. In the evening, you will attend a short briefing with our team to prepare you for the climb.
Private tours include shared airport transfers for your group. Additional individual transfers are available at an extra cost, so we recommend coordinating arrival and departure times to avoid extra charges.
Your guide and mountain crew will meet you at the hotel before driving (about 3–4 hours) to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park. After completing permit and registration formalities, you will continue by 4x4 vehicles to the drop-off point at 3,414 m, enjoying your first views of the Shira Plateau.
From here, you will hike to Shira 2 Camp on an easy trail with a gentle altitude gain, ideal for acclimatization. Upon arrival, the camp will be fully set up, and dinner will be prepared by the mountain crew.
After breakfast, you will hike from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower, the key acclimatization point of the route. This section involves several ascents and descents, reaching over 4,600 m, where you will spend 1–2 hours and have lunch to aid acclimatization.
You will then descend to Barranco Camp, with great views of the impressive Barranco Wall, which you will climb the following day via a safe and straightforward trail.
You will wake up early, have breakfast, and begin the climb of the Barranco Wall, ideally departing early to avoid crowds. The climb is straightforward and takes about an hour, followed by a short rest and photo stop with views of Kibo.
You will then continue to Karanga Camp on a more challenging trail with several ascents and descents. After a warm lunch, you will do a short acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp, gaining about 300 m, before returning to Karanga Camp.
After a warm breakfast, you will hike to Barafu Summit Camp, the base for your final night ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The camp will be set up in advance, allowing you to rest as soon as you arrive. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing and sleeping to prepare for the night summit.
You will leave Barafu Camp at night to begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). While the climb is technically straightforward, the high altitude makes it physically demanding, so one guide will accompany every two climbers for close support. After reaching the summit and optional time near the glacier, you will descend back to Barafu Camp, rest briefly, then continue down to Millennium Camp.
Millennium Camp lies within the tropical rainforest, where you will wake up feeling refreshed by the lower altitude and proud of your summit achievement. After a warm breakfast, you will descend to Mweka Gate. Here, the group will celebrate together, sign the guestbook, and later receive commemorative certificates at our office before transferring back to the hotel.
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the airport, arriving in time for your onward international flight, marking the end of your 8-day Mt. Kilimanjaro climb.
