Moreover, 325 species of birds are recorded in the area.

In the afternoon you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which lies between Lake George on the East, Lake Edward on the West and the Rwenzori Mountains on the North.

You will spot lion, elephant, buffalo, spotted hyena, waterbuck, Ugandan kob, and perhaps the leopard though shy and rare to be seen.

In the early afternoon you will take the most exciting safari by boat from Mweya Peninsula along Kazinga Channel, one of the most popular sites in Uganda for its concentration of wildlife, bird’s life and opportunities for good photographs. On this boat cruise you will see plenty of hippo, buffalo and elephant as they are drinking along the shores of the channel. You will have lunch and then continue your journey south to the Ishasha Sector, a vast savannah between the rivers Ishasha and Ntungwe.

You will see herds of buffalo, elephant, topi antelope and more.

After lunch you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; a natural habitat for the endangered mountain gorillas and a Heritage Site under Unesco for the biodiversity importance. The choice of the area of the “gorilla safari” depends on the availability and allocation of the permits for this activity.

Dinner and overnight stay at Bwindi Broad Bill Forest Camp or similar.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast you will enter the tropical rainforest of Bwindi for your gorilla safari. You will follow the ranger/guides in a maximum group of 8 people as you search for the habituated family of mountain gorillas. Bwindi in Uganda has a population of about 370 gorillas, which is half the world population according to 2007 gorilla population surveys. Once located, you will have one hour for observing the primates and their behaviors, all the while taking once in a lifetime photographs. Later in the evening you will return to Bwindi broad bill forest camp (or similar depending on availability) for dinner and your overnight stay.
