Tour Plan

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence in Nairobi. Drive north through the scenic countryside and across the equator towards Samburu National Reserve. The journey offers beautiful views of Kenya’s changing landscapes as you move from the central highlands into the drier northern region. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in Samburu, exploring the reserve in search of Big 5 animals and other wildlife. Samburu is also home to several unique northern species, including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Samburu – Full-Day Game Drive

After breakfast, spend a full day exploring Samburu National Reserve. The reserve is known for its dramatic scenery, wildlife-rich plains and the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which attracts animals throughout the day. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, with time to stop for photographs and wildlife observation. Depending on the season and location, you may encounter large elephant herds, lions, leopards, cheetahs and numerous antelope species. A picnic lunch can be arranged in the reserve to maximize your time on safari. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Samburu – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, check out and drive towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia. Arrive around lunchtime, check in and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Ol Pejeta is one of Kenya's leading wildlife conservancies and is particularly renowned for its rhino conservation efforts. During your game drive, look out for black and white rhinos, elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras and other wildlife. You may also have the opportunity to visit the conservancy's rhino sanctuary or Chimpanzee Sanctuary, depending on your schedule.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. The journey takes you through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before an afternoon game drive around Lake Nakuru. The park is famous for its rhino population and is also home to lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and numerous bird species. The lake and surrounding woodland provide excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, continue to Lake Naivasha. Arrive at your lodge before lunchtime and have time to relax. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you can see hippos and a variety of bird species along the shoreline. If time permits, you can also visit Crescent Island for a guided walking safari among giraffes, zebras, antelopes and other wildlife.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha and travel towards the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through the Great Rift Valley and rural Kenyan landscapes before reaching the Mara region. Arrive around lunchtime, check in and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the Maasai Mara. Explore the vast savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, cheetahs, hippos and other wildlife. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Full-Day Game Drive

After an early breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara. The reserve offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa, with large concentrations of predators and plains game. Spend the day exploring different areas of the reserve and searching for the Big Five. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing with your afternoon game drive. You may also choose to visit a Maasai village in the afternoon to learn more about the traditions and way of life of the Maasai people. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Maasai Mara – Full-Day Game Drive

Enjoy another full day exploring the Maasai Mara. With an additional full day, there is more flexibility to explore different sections of the reserve and spend more time at wildlife sightings. An early morning game drive offers excellent opportunities to see predators when they are most active. Return to camp for breakfast and later continue with another game drive. Alternatively, you may choose to include an optional hot-air balloon safari, followed by a champagne-style bush breakfast before continuing with your safari activities (550 usd per person) Dinner and overnight at your Mara accommodation.

Day 9: Maasai Mara – Nairobi / Departure

Wake up for breakfast at the lodge or camp. After breakfast, check out and proceed for maasai village visit for cultural experience. Later begin your journey back to Nairobi. You will travel through the Kenyan countryside with a lunch stop along the way. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel or airport for your onward plans.
